Okay, y'all. It's August 1st and I'm sitting on my back porch with an iced coffee that's already watered down, watching Grayson try to teach Chloe how to skateboard in the driveway. And I'm having one of those quiet mornings where you kind of catch up with yourself.
Here's my real talk for this Saturday: I'm starting over. Again. And I almost didn't want to tell you that.
Because there's this pressure, especially when you run a wellness company, to have it all figured out. To be the girl with the perfect routine and the glowy skin and the plan. But that's not me. That's never been me. And if I pretend it is, then I'm lying to the exact women I built GoodGirlRx for.
This summer got away from me a little. Between the podcast, the business, being mom to Chloe and Grayson, and honestly just... life... I let some of my good habits slip. My hormones have been a mess. My endometriosis flared up in June like it wanted to remind me who's boss. And I stopped doing the things that make me feel like myself.
For a while there I was so hard on myself about it. Like, how do you know better and still fall off? But here's what I've learned in therapy and in the mirror and in a whole lot of prayer... falling off isn't failing. It's being human. The failing would be staying down and calling it your personality.
“Starting over doesn't mean you failed the first time. It means you know yourself well enough to try again — and that's growth, not weakness.”
So this month I'm doing a reset. And not the aesthetic kind with the color-coded planner and the green juice I'll hate by Wednesday. A gentle one. I'm getting back on track with my weight loss support because when my body feels steady, my whole life feels steadier. I'm back on my B12 because summer drained me in ways I didn't even notice until I felt human again. Small things. Sustainable things.
And I'm being honest with my body about where it actually is right now instead of where I think it should be. That's the part nobody talks about. The self-acceptance isn't a finish line you cross once and get to stay at forever. Some days you wake up and you have to choose it all over again.
That last one hits me the hardest. Because Chloe's watching. She's 13 and she sees everything. And I want her to grow up knowing that women get to start over as many times as they need to. That your worth isn't in your streak. That you can be a work in progress and still be worthy of the whole beautiful life you're building.
So here's to August, y'all. To watered-down iced coffee and driveway skateboarding and doing the hard thing twice, and three times, and however many times it takes. I'm right here in it with you. We start over together.
With love, Savannah xo
If August is your month to start again, I'd love to walk it with you. Take the first small step — that's all it ever has to be.
