Y'all, it's October. I don't know how that happened. One minute we were at the lake and I was pretending summer would last forever, and the next I'm pulling out sweaters and buying way too many pumpkins for the porch because Chloe asked for one and I came home with six.
But if I'm being honest with you — and I always try to be — fall used to wreck me. Something about the days getting shorter and the light going golden too early... it stirs up a lot. Grief. Anxiety. That tired kind of sad that doesn't really have a name. For years I just white-knuckled through it. Pushed harder. Did more. Ran on fumes and called it strength.
I'm not doing that this year. I'm choosing softness instead.

Here's the thing nobody tells you about always being the strong one. You get so good at holding everything together that you forget what it feels like to be held. I've spent a lot of my life being the glue — for my family, for the people I love, for this whole brand I built from nothing. And I'm proud of that. But proud and exhausted can live in the same body at the same time.
This year I had to sit in therapy and admit out loud that I don't actually have to earn rest. That my worth isn't in how much I produce. My endometriosis flares worse when I'm stressed and running on nothing, so my body basically forces the lesson on me when my mind won't listen. Fall is my body's way of saying slow down, baby. You're allowed.
“I used to think taking care of myself was selfish. Now I know it's the only way I have anything left to give anybody else.”
So this season I'm doing small things. I'm protecting my mornings. I'm saying no without a three-paragraph explanation. I started back on my B12 because the fatigue was no joke, and y'all know I'm never gonna pretend I did it all on willpower and green juice. If you're dragging this time of year the way I was, that little B12 boost genuinely changed my energy. Sometimes the fix isn't more discipline. Sometimes it's just the right support.
I'm also back in a real rhythm with my weight and my hormones, and I'm at peace with it in a way I wasn't a couple years ago. When I was in the thick of my health stuff — gaining weight I couldn't explain, hating photos of myself, feeling like a stranger in my own skin — I would've given anything for someone to just tell me the truth without shame. That's the whole reason Good Girl Rx even exists. Not to make y'all smaller. To make y'all feel at home in yourselves again.
Here's what I'm leaning into this October, if you want to steal any of it:
I keep coming back to grace. I always will. Because the version of me that healed wasn't the one who did everything perfect — she was the one who kept choosing to show up, flaws and flare-ups and forty extra pounds and all. If fall is heavy for you too, I want you to know you're not falling apart. You're just being asked to slow down enough to put yourself back together. And that's holy work, if you ask me.
Go light your candle. Make the soup. Call the person you've been avoiding, or don't. Be soft with yourself this season — you've been strong long enough. With love, Savannah xo
