Y'all. It's the end of September and there's finally that little chill in the Nashville air where you can wear a hoodie and not sweat through it by noon. I love this season. Always have. But this fall hits different for me.
Because this is the first autumn in a long time where I'm not apologizing for taking care of myself. And if you knew how much I used to apologize... you'd understand why that's a big deal.
For years I felt guilty for every single thing I did that was just for me. Guilty for going to therapy. Guilty for the doctor's appointments when my endometriosis was flaring so bad I couldn't stand up straight. Guilty for admitting I gained weight and needed help. I thought needing help made me weak. Turns out it made me human.
Here's the thing nobody tells you when you're a woman who takes care of everybody else. When you're raising your siblings, running a business, showing up for your family... you get so used to being the one who holds it all together that the second you set the weight down, you feel like you're failing somebody.
I was failing. But not the people around me. I was failing me. I was so busy being strong for Chloe and Grayson, so busy building GoodGirlRx, so busy being the daughter who kept it together for my mama and daddy... that I forgot I was a person who deserved the same grace I gave everyone else.
“You cannot pour from an empty cup, and you sure can't heal in the same conditions that broke you.”

This year I actually did the work. I kept up with my hormone health instead of ignoring it until I was on the bathroom floor in pain. I stayed consistent with the things that make me feel like myself. My weight loss journey stopped being about a number and started being about how I feel when I wake up. That's the shift, y'all. When it stops being punishment and starts being care.
And I'll be honest with you like I always am. Some of that support came from tools I never used to talk about. My GLP-1 journey has been part of it, sure. But so has getting my energy back with a little B12 when the fall slump tries to knock me flat. It's not about a magic fix. It's about finally deciding I was worth the effort.
I think fall teaches us something if we let it. The trees don't apologize for letting go of what they don't need anymore. They just... release it. They trust that spring is coming. I'm trying to live like that this year. Letting go of the guilt, the perfectionism, the version of me that thought she had to earn rest.
So this is your reminder as we head into the coziest, most reflective season of the year. Taking care of yourself is not selfish. It's the whole reason you're able to show up for the people you love. Stop apologizing. Start living. I promise you the people who really love you would rather have a whole you than a worn-out one.
I love y'all so much. Go drink some water, call your mama, and be gentle with yourself this weekend. xo, Savannah
