I know y'all see those TikTok morning routines with the matching workout sets and the $200 smoothie bowls and the journaling with a view. That's not me. Here's what actually happens at the Chrisley house on a Tuesday morning.
Grayson's alarm goes off first. Always. Then Chloe needs something. Usually her hair straightener or a specific pair of shoes that somehow ended up in my closet. By the time I actually get five minutes to myself, it's already chaos. And I wouldn't trade it for anything.
But here's what I HAVE learned — if I don't take care of myself in the first 30 minutes of being awake, it doesn't happen. Period. So my non-negotiables are simple. Water first. Like a full glass before I even think about coffee. Then I take my supplements — B12 has been a game changer for my energy, and I'm not just saying that. I was running on fumes before I started.
Breakfast is protein-focused because my provider told me early on that protein is everything when you're on GLP-1 treatment. So it's usually eggs, or Greek yogurt with berries, or a protein shake if I'm in a rush. Nothing fancy. Nothing Instagram-worthy. Just food that actually fuels me.
I try to move my body in the morning too, even if it's just a 20-minute walk with the dogs. Not for the calorie burn — for my head. When I skip movement, my anxiety creeps up and my whole day feels off. It took me a long time to learn that exercise isn't punishment for what I ate. It's a gift I give myself.
The one thing that's changed everything is letting go of the idea that my morning has to look a certain way. Some days I meditate and journal and feel like a wellness queen. Other days I'm eating a protein bar in the car while yelling at someone to grab their backpack. Both versions of me deserve grace.
If your morning routine looks messy right now, that's okay. The goal isn't perfection. It's showing up for yourself, even imperfectly. That's enough.
