Peptides 101: what they actually are

Peptide is a word getting thrown around a lot lately. Here's the clean version of what peptides actually are — without the hype.

Definition in plain English

A peptide is a short chain of amino acids — the same building blocks that make up proteins. Your body makes peptides constantly. Insulin is a peptide. GLP-1 is a peptide. Sermorelin is a peptide. The medical category is huge, and each peptide does something specific.

Not all peptides are equal

Some peptides have decades of clinical research (insulin, GLP-1 agonists, sermorelin). Others are sold online with much less evidence. Only take peptides prescribed by a licensed provider.
