Hey y'all! Can we talk about something real for a minute? Summer used to be my anxiety season. Like, the moment I'd see those first pool party invites or beach trip plans, my stomach would drop. Not because I didn't want to go — I love summer — but because I'd immediately start that mental spiral we all know too well. The one where you're calculating how many weeks you have to "get ready" and wondering if you can find a cute coverup that doesn't scream "I'm hiding."
But this summer? Y'all... something's different. And I need to share this with you because if you're where I was, you need to hear it.
Six months ago, I was at my heaviest — almost 160 pounds on my 5'7" frame. My endometriosis was flaring, my hormones were a hot mess, and I felt like I was fighting my body every single day. I'd tried everything, and I mean everything. The restrictive diets, the brutal workouts, the cleanses that left me hangry and miserable. Nothing stuck because honestly? I was punishing my body instead of partnering with it.
Then I finally had a real conversation with my doctor about medical weight management. I'll be honest — I had all the feelings about it. Was I taking the "easy way out"? Was this giving up? But you know what my therapist told me? She said, "Savannah, using tools that help your body work better isn't cheating. It's self-care."
“Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is accept help. Even when that voice in your head says you should be able to do it alone.”
So I started. And y'all, it wasn't just about the medication. It was about finally treating my body like the home I have to live in forever, not some enemy I needed to defeat. I started working with my hormones instead of against them. I added B12 shots when my energy was dragging. I stopped skipping meals and started actually nourishing myself.
The weight started coming off — slowly, sustainably. But here's what nobody tells you about this journey: the number on the scale becoming the least interesting part. What changed everything was how I started feeling. My inflammation went down. My energy came back. I could play with Chloe and Grayson without getting winded. I could film all day and still have energy for family dinner.
Fast forward to now. Last weekend, Chloe asked if we could go shopping for swimsuits together. Old me would've made an excuse. This me? I said yes immediately. We spent the afternoon trying on suits, laughing at the ridiculous ones, and you know what? I bought three. Not coverups. Actual swimsuits. Including a two-piece that Chloe picked out because she said it made me look "like a movie star."
I'm not at my "goal weight" yet. I've still got stretch marks and cellulite and all the things Instagram filters try to hide. But I'm healthier than I've been in years. I'm stronger. I'm present. And most importantly? I'm not waiting to live my life anymore.
Here's what I want you to know if you're struggling right now: Your journey is your journey. Maybe it includes medication, maybe it doesn't. Maybe you're dealing with PCOS or thyroid issues or just feeling stuck. Whatever it is, you don't have to white-knuckle through it alone. There are tools and treatments and people who can help. Using them doesn't make you weak — it makes you smart.
This summer, instead of hiding, I'm living. Pool parties? Yes. Beach trips? Absolutely. That cute sundress I've been saving for "when I lose weight"? I'm wearing it tomorrow. Because life is happening right now, not 20 pounds from now.
I know summer can be hard when you're not feeling your best. Trust me, I've been there. But I also know that with the right support, everything can change. You deserve to enjoy every single moment of this beautiful season — swimsuit and all. And if you need a cheerleader while you figure out what works for you? I'm here, and so is this entire community of women who get it.
So here's to hot girl summer — whatever that looks like for you. Here's to feeling good in your body today, not someday. And here's to all of us choosing progress over perfection, one day at a time. With love, Savannah
