Y'all. It's September. I don't know how, but it is. The mornings in Nashville have that little bite to them now, the kind where you grab a hoodie before the coffee's even done brewing. And somewhere between back-to-school chaos and running GoodGirlRx and recording the podcast... I realized I was running on empty.
Like completely empty. The kind of tired where you cry at a commercial and can't figure out why.
I have this pattern. I bet a lot of you do too. Summer ends, everybody expects you to reset and grind harder and set a hundred new goals. And I love a fresh start, I really do. But this September I felt something different pulling at me. Not to do more... to do less. Better. With intention.

It wasn't dramatic. That's the thing nobody tells you. It looked like me being short with Chloe over nothing. It looked like skipping workouts I actually love, and then feeling guilty about skipping them. It looked like saying yes to everything because I didn't want to disappoint anybody... and slowly disappointing myself in the process.
My body was whispering to me for weeks before it started screaming. The endometriosis flares came back harder when I was stressed. My sleep was garbage. And I kept telling myself I'd deal with it next week. But next week is a liar, y'all. Next week never comes when you keep pushing yourself off the to-do list.
“You cannot pour from an empty cup, and you sure can't parent, build, or heal from one either.”
So I sat down one morning last week, coffee in hand, and I got honest with God about it. I prayed for the wisdom to know the difference between what needs me and what I've just been carrying out of habit. And I felt this peace wash over me. Not everything is mine to fix. Not everything is mine to carry.
This isn't a 30-day challenge or some perfectly curated wellness plan. It's just the little things I'm choosing this month to feel like myself again:
And I'll be real with you about the health stuff too, because I always am. My weight and my hormones have been on a journey and I'm still on it. The GLP-1 support I've talked about before is still part of how I take care of myself — if that's something you've been curious about, you can always start a visit here and just see. No pressure. This isn't about shrinking yourself to be worthy. It's about feeling good in the body you actually live in.
Here's what I want you to hear if you're worn down heading into fall: slowing down is not quitting. Rest is not a reward you have to earn after you collapse. You're allowed to protect your peace before you hit the wall. I'm learning that at 28 and I wish somebody had drilled it into me at 22.
So this September, let's reset gently. Let's choose the version of ourselves that's rested and present over the one that's just impressive and exhausted. Chloe deserves that version of me. And you deserve that version of you.
I'm rooting for you, always. Now go drink some water and take a nap without the guilt. xo, Savannah
