Y'all. It is October 17th and I just realized I've been running on empty since... honestly, I can't even remember when. Fall in Nashville is my favorite. The leaves, the candles, Chloe begging me to decorate for Halloween before September's even over. But this year something shifted in me, and I want to be real about it.
For most of my life, slowing down felt like failing. If I wasn't producing, hustling, proving something... who even was I? I built that armor young. When everything in our family blew up publicly, I learned to just keep going. Keep smiling. Keep performing. Because if I stopped, I'd have to actually feel it all. And feeling it was terrifying.

But here's the thing my body finally forced me to understand. Between the endometriosis, the hormone chaos, running Good Girl Rx, the podcast, and being the person my siblings count on every single day... I was so depleted I'd wake up already exhausted. My therapist looked at me a few weeks ago and said, "Savannah, when's the last time you did nothing on purpose?" And I just started crying. Because I couldn't answer her.
I used to think I had to earn rest. Like I had to grind so hard I collapsed before I was allowed to stop. That's not healing, y'all. That's self-punishment dressed up as ambition. So this fall, I'm doing something radical for me — I'm resting on purpose. Saturdays are slow now. Phone down. Chloe and I make soup and watch scary movies. Grayson teaches me about whatever game he's obsessed with and I pretend to understand.
“Taking care of myself isn't selfish. It's the only way I can keep showing up for everyone I love.”
Part of resting, for me, has also meant supporting my body instead of fighting it. My energy was in the gutter this summer, and my B12 levels were honestly embarrassing. Getting my B12 dialed in made such a difference — it sounds small but it was the first domino. And on the days I feel foggy and run-down, a little NAD+ support has helped me feel more like a human and less like a zombie trying to parent two teenagers.
I'm not telling you any of this to sound like I've got it figured out. I don't. I still catch myself reaching for my to-do list the second I sit still. Old habits are loud. But I'm learning to sit in the quiet and let God remind me that I'm worthy of peace even when I'm not productive. That my value was never about what I accomplish.
Here's what this season is teaching me:
So this weekend, I'm giving you permission to do nothing on purpose. Light the pumpkin candle. Put on the cozy socks. Let the laundry wait. Fall is a season of letting go — the trees do it so beautifully, just releasing what they don't need anymore. Maybe we can too. With love, Savannah xo
