I need y'all to hear this today because somebody needs to say it and I don't think enough people are.
You are not lazy. You are not weak. You are not broken. And the reason diets haven't worked isn't because you lack willpower or discipline or whatever other garbage the wellness industry has been selling you.
I was going through all kinds of sh-t with my endometriosis and my hormones and I gained 40 lbs in like three months. Three months. And do you think I was sitting on the couch eating pizza every day? No. I was working out. I was eating salads. I was doing everything "right." And my body was doing whatever it wanted anyway.
That's the part nobody talks about. Sometimes your body is working against you. Hormones, genetics, metabolism, stress, sleep, medical conditions — there are SO many factors that determine what your body does with the food you eat. And no amount of willpower can override biology.
When I finally started working with a provider who understood this — who looked at my whole health picture instead of just telling me to eat less and move more — everything changed. Getting the right medical support, including GLP-1 treatment, wasn't giving up. It was the smartest thing I ever did.
I used to feel so much shame around needing help. Like I should've been able to figure this out on my own. But you know what? We don't shame people for wearing glasses because their eyes don't work perfectly. We don't shame people for taking blood pressure medication. So why do we shame women for getting help with weight management?
If you've been beating yourself up for not being able to lose weight through sheer willpower... please stop. You've been fighting a fight without the right tools. That's not weakness. That's being set up to fail.
You deserve support. You deserve tools that actually work WITH your body instead of against it. And you deserve to stop carrying the shame.
I chose grace. I hope you will too.
